Daryl McIntyre
Managing Director
I started in logistics in 1998 as an office junior. I worked my way up through various positions including, import sea freight, operations, warehouse manager, cartage co-coordinator, freight manager, customer service, business development and sales. I had a short stint in 2006 in the UK for 9 months in a Art shipping company moving expensive sculptures and paintings around the world before settling back in Australia starting a freight section in a small established customs brokerage. In January 2010 I decided to started my own business and the DAZMAC Sydney office opened and has grown rapidly since. We opened our Gold Coast Branch in April 2013 with a office in Gold Coast City Marina which is the heart of the boating industry in Australia. In 2015 we started we expanded our Sydney operation into warehousing, gaining both Customs 77G bonded and Quarantine class 1.3 depots so we could ensure our specialised cargo was handled properly. In 2016 we became a Licensed Tow Truck Operator and acquired a 4 car carrier and tilt tray in Sydney which enabled us to have a true to door service. In 2017 we moved our the Gold Coast City Marina into 3000 sqm site in Yatala gaining both Customs 77G bonded and Quarantine class 1.3 depots.
I also joined the AIMVIA (Australian Imported Motor Vehicle Association) in 2016 as a volunteer to assist with lobbying for positive to expand the very restricted imported used vehicle industry. I filled the role as secretary and treasurer at separate times.
Brett Lawrence
Licensed Customs Broker / Queensland State Manager
I started my freight career in 2000. I worked through various roles starting as a Junior house clerk, exports, customs compiling through to operations manager all in the same company. In 2005 I obtained my customs brokers license. During my time in the industry I have found a small niche in handling motorsport and project shipments. Still to this day Dazmac handles a number of motorsport based clients. In 2012 I joined Daryl at Dazmac having known him since 1994 and working together in the freight industry. In April 2013 I moved to the Gold Coast to start our QLD branch. Since then the office has expanded quickly and we opened our own customs/quarantine depot in Sydney and now Brisbane. I generally work with all of our dealer boat customers as well as motorsport customers.
Otis Cooper
New South Wales State Manager
I have a background in retail management (15 years) I have learnt a lot that can be transferred into the freight industry and take pride in my work. I have known Daryl for 20 years and have worked with him for 5 doing various rolls including accounting, customer service, sales and operations. I am currently operations manager of the head office in Sydney.
It is a pleasure to work for DAZMAC and I have seen it along with myself mature into the reputable and outstanding company it is today.
Phil Drake
WA State Manager
My introduction to logistics was working for a small specialist airfreight forwarder which formed a strong foundation for my career highlighting the importance of adaptability in this fast paced industry.
I have since progressed and transitioned through various roles such as an IATA/AMSA accredited Dangerous Goods trainer, Import Team Leader for an International Oil and Gas forwarder and Branch manager for a Dangerous Goods specialist forwarder. Each role building on a knowledge base and cementing my aptitude for logistics.
Seeking a new challenge, I joined DAZMAC in early 2021 to assist Daryl set up and run the Perth branch and operations. It has quickly become critical part of the business and I get great validation seeing the value the Western Australian office brings to the entire group. I feel privileged to be a part of the growth and culture of the business as we head into the future.
Karl Manders
Victoria State Manager
With a background in Petrochemical Engineering, I have built a 30-year career in the oil and gas industry, progressing through various leadership roles to ultimately manage large scale, complex projects. A critical aspect of these remote developments involved coordinating air, sea, and road logistics to transport oversized equipment from around the world into complex project environments across Australia. This experience sparked a keen interest in logistics, particularly in the nuances and demands of road transport within Australia.
In 2021, I joined DAZMAC and have taken great pride in contributing to the company’s growth and innovation nationwide. Working collaboratively with a dedicated team, I’ve played a key role in enhancing operational processes and expanding our service offerings to better serve our customers.
My journey with DAZMAC has taken me from our Head Office in Brisbane to our Perth depot, and now to Victoria, where I manage the day-to-day operations of our Melbourne facility.
